#19: Australian Open:
Slik ble lillebror
størst i verden

I mange år var Australian Open den desiderte juniorpartneren av de fire Grand Slam-turneringene. 

Ingen gadd å dra dit. Banene var elendige. Tribunekapasiteten liten. Turneringen flyttet fra sted til sted. Tidspunktet i kalenderen håpløst. Premiepengene lavere, og rankingpoengene likeså.

Da turneringen sto i fare for å miste sin Grand Slam-status på 1980-tallet, kom redningen i form av en handlekraftig politiker du ikke har hørt om. Mens to svensker sørget for å holde publikum fornøyd, ble gravemaskinene klargjort et annet sted i Melbourne. Redningsaksjonen var i gang.
